Methodology
Every calculator on uswagecalculator.com uses published 2026 tax data. Estimates only — not tax advice.
Federal income tax
We use the 2026 IRS tax brackets and standard deduction ($15,000 Single / $30,000 MFJ). Bonuses use either the flat 22% supplemental method or the aggregate (annualized) method.
FICA
Social Security is 6.2% on wages up to the 2026 wage base of $176,100. Medicare is 1.45% on all wages, plus 0.9% Additional Medicare on wages above the filing-status threshold.
State & local
We include each state's flat rate or progressive brackets and standard deduction for 2026. Selected cities (New York City, Yonkers, Philadelphia, Ohio cities, etc.) add a local income tax on top.
Child Tax Credit
Up to $2,000 per qualifying child under 17 with an AGI phase-out starting at $200,000 (Single/HoH) or $400,000 (MFJ). Up to $1,700 is refundable in 2026.
